This scent celebrates the orange tree, the symbol of fertility, wealth, virtue and love.

Indispensable to the art of perfumery for its wellspring of illustrious raw materials, the prolific orange tree has charmed Europe's regal courts in endless olfactory permutations. From its ambrosial blossoms comes Neroli and Orange Blossom Absolute; from its precious stems, leaves and woods comes Petitgrain and Eau de Brouts; and from its bold fruit comes intoxicating essential oils.

Ushered into the Mediterranean Basin from Asia in the ninth-century, the fruit-bearing plant was deemed fashionable among seventeenth-century European courts, and opulent orangeries were built as monuments to far-flung, Mediterranean idylls. In the early eighteenth-century at Kensington Palace, Queen Anne constructed vast orangeries to protect her overwintering orchards from climate vagaries; King Louis XIV of France cultivated extensive orangeries at Versailles; and King Louis XIII of France demanded orange blossom fragrances to be fanned from his orangeries into his royal apartments.

In the symbolic nomenclature of flowers, orange blossoms represent chastity and purity for their pristine, white petals, as well as fertility and generosity for the tree’s aptitude of bearing fruit and flowers simultaneously. These fine qualities have linked the blossoms to matrimonial traditions. One of the House of Houbigant’s most historic clients, Queen Victoria, wore a silk headdress wreathed in orange blossoms, and ornamented her silk-satin bodice with petal sprigs at her marriage to Prince Albert in 1840. From that point forward, Victorian brides wove orange blossoms into pastoral coronets and bouquets.

With its graceful, multi-faceted orange flower bouquet, Orangers en Fleurs taps its royal heritage, blossomed to perfection. Dulcet floral breath of pure orange blossoms recalls far-away lands of color and regal epochs of high society.

The volatile, evanescent overture opens with Orange Blossom, Rose Absolute and Egyptian Jasmine Absolute headnotes. An enchanting heart of Tuberose and Eau de Brouts is underscored by floral notes of Ylang Comores and spicy Nutmeg. The basenote drydown blends sheer, silky Cedar Wood and Musk.
